aku : eh kenapa tak boleh buka .pdf? Corrupt ke Adobe?

budak law(a) : oh dah lame saya tak boleh buka adobe awak.. laptop saya ni memang problem sikit

aku : eh re-install la..

budak law(a) : saya tak ada masa nak hantar kedai lagi la awak..

aku : eh tak perlu la, boleh buat sendiri. uninstall, re-install balik

budak law(a) : saya tak pandai lah, saya laptop ni pun yang saya bukak word dengan windows media player je..tak reti lah..

Sampai kepada generasi ke-tiga keluarga Buendia di Macondo. Pertembungan antara agama dan sains masih lagi sengaja diadakan berulang-ulang. Pada masa yang sama Macondo menerima impak peperangan antara liberalis dan konservatis. Konservatis digambarkan sebagai pihak yang licik dan penuh helah. Liberalis puak yang cuba membenarkan hubungan terlarang ibu dan anak, ibu saudara dan anak saudara. Setakat ini generasi ketiga Buendia, tiada seorang pun ‘anak halal’.

Muka pertama – muka 22.

Ada pertembungan antara scientific worldview dan religious worldview di Macondo.

Masih lagi terasa buku ini biasa-biasa sahaja, mula terasa mual apabila bab memasuki cerita-cerita romantisme dan sumbang mahram . Mungkin juga ini yang cuba disampaikan pengarang – keruntuhan moral barat yang terlalu percaya kepada sains dan tidak percaya kepada agama. Macondo juga digambarkan bebas dari pegangan pemerintah kerajaan.

Tapi banyak realisme magik dalam proses saintifik itu sendiri!

Sebenarnya saya berasa agak sayu bila mendapat tahu Asri Rabbani telah meninggal dunia. Ada beberapa sebab, dan yang paling utama, pada hari-hari dahulu sewaktu Pergi Tak Kembali sedang popular di radio (2000), Arwah Tok Ayah telah kembali ke Rahmatullah. Ibu saudara saya datang menjemput saya di asrama pada hari kematiannya – kami naik teksi berdua dari Kota Bharu pulang ke Machang, dan dalam perjalanan, dari radio dalam teksi berkenaan berkumandang Pergi Tak Kembali sehinggakan ibu saudara saya menyapu air mata berkali-kali. Saya tidak berasa apa-apa, neutral sahaja. Mungkin terkejut, mungkin juga jiwa remaja saya waktu itu agak keras untuk bersedih-sedihan. Dan kami tiba di rumah dengan jenazah yang telah selamat dikebumikan.

Doa untuk kedua-dua arwah Asri dan tok Ayah. Entah kenapa baharu sekarang saya berasa begitu rindu dengan Tok Ayah. Dia datuk tiri yang tiada pertalian darah dengan saya, tapi sehingga sekarang saya belum pernah bertemu lagi dengan mana-mana orang yang boleh menandingi sifat kasihanbelas, pemurah, tidak berdendam dan terlalu mengambil berat tentang orang sekeliling sepertinya. Berbahagialah hati orang begini selama-lamanya..hidup tidak pernah sakit hati dengan orang, mati dikenang dan dirindui pula.

Family History

grandfather -> check ( died mysteriously without going to the hospital.  Cause of death uncertain either appendicitis or..)

Sister of grandmother -> check ( chemotherapy)

half-blood auntie -> check ( Gone mysteriously after going to the bomoh)

Today’s english class was pretty interesting. We were given a simple task in a group to discuss ways of reusing old junks. Each group were to select a type of junk – from old newspapers, old refrigerators, old tyres, old computers and old cans. My group took old tyres. Another group took old newspaper. Another brother’s group took old tyres too. and, most interesting, this brother group who took old refrigerator. There’s lots of ways to recycle old tyres and old newspapers right ( hence that’s why we took the easy job, haha). But old fridge? Let’s see that group of brothers’ idea to recycle old fridge.

1) Took the fridge’s door and remake it as a door.

This started the laughter in the class as soon as the presenter ( who’s rather cute ) finished his sentence.

2) Convert it to a  Safety box.

“And how’s you’re going to lock it?” Asked the lecturer. ( We’re to busy laughing to ask questions)

“We install a padlock to it.” ( more laughter)

3) An aquarium.

I’ve heard about washing machine being converted to aquarium. ( In fact my family had done it.). But fridge? hmmm.

4) A cupboard/locker

The class laughed, I laughed too,but I think this is possible. Well, my family used to practice this too. Way when I was in the primary school, and we’re staying temporarily in the teacher’s house, my father didnt want to add any furniture to our house because he was thinking about the difficulty to move it all. Well, since the broken fridge is quite ok physically ( no rust, no smell and all) but was beyond repair, my mother who hated to waste it turned it into my small brother’s wardrobe. He was only 5 or 6 , so he didn’t have that big wardrobe anyway. In fact, he was perfectly happy to have a wardrobe with magneted door.

At the end of the class, my group was voted as the group with the best idea and the fridge group the second.  I still think the best could go for them really. We can laugh, but people laughed at Thomas Edison too when he try to invent the bulb…

More idea?

I visited the Deputy Dean’s office this morning to settle some important matters with Dr. Zuraida. While waiting for her, I talked with Brother Mat the Personal Assistant at the office. Turned out his kampung is actually in Labok, Machang ( as where my grandmother live).

“Did you watch the News today?” He asked. I did not.

As you already known by now, he told me, the breaking news was Michael Jackson died. I am not a fan of Michael Jackson therefore I am not affected much by this. Brother Mat told me his suspicions; maybe it’s really suicide, maybe there’s political agenda behind this, who knows.

Later I met with Dr Zuraida, and among other things she told me – MAJOR CHANGE in Kulliyyah of Engineering. The current Dean will soon become the Deputy Rector and his place will be replaced by Dr. Amir ( this is the first time I heard there’s Dr.Amir in Kulliyah of Engineering ). Now, this is what really mattered to me.  Dr. Faris the current Dean is well-loved by both the staffs and students, as far as I know. I personally respected him very much for his friendly nature to the students ( though his assignment questions were admittedly; deadly difficult ) This is a great loss indeed to the Kulliyyah. There’s not only Dr. Faris, who’re taken from the Kulliyyah. Bro. Anas too, has been transferred to the Matriculation Centre, since a month ago. Lucky Dr.Zuraida is still there.

After meeting with Dr. Zuraida, I went to meet Dr. Aisha. While waiting for her, I talked to this Sudanese guy who was also waiting for Dr. Aisha.

“Did you watch the News today?” He asked.

“Michael Jackson?” I asked him back nonchalantly.

Haha. Anyway, this guy told me he is quite frustrated with the repeated news of MJ. Yesterday the channel was so full with Tehran’s, Afghanistan’s and other things, but suddenly today the world revolved around Michael Jackson. I agreed him.

Dr. Aisha didn’t appeared. after waiting for a while, I went to search for her at the Dean’s office.

“I’m sorry I am very busy at the moment, anyway, is there any prob?” She kindly told me while simultaneously touching the right hand I rested on the counter. Behind her severals other lecturer seems to be huddling and talking aroung a table.

Well, it seems the kulliyyah seems to be a bit unbalanced with this drastic change..

Saya ada RM1.45 dalam dompet saya sekarang.

Saya ada 3 jenis kad ATM.

Saya ada 11 keping setem. 10 keping setem RM1.00 dan sekeping setem Rm0.30.

Saya ada 3 pasang baju kurung ( yang dibawa ke uia).

Saya ada 2 helai tudung hitam dan sehelai tudung kuning ( yang dibawa ke uia).

Saya ada dua pasang setokin, sehelai coklat sehelai ungu muda.

Saya ada 2 thumb drive, satu 4GB satu 2GB.

Saya ada 3 buah beg – beg sandang belakang, beg sandang tepi, dan beg tarik.

Saya ada sebuah kamera digital.

Saya ada seorang kawan yang bakal melahirkan seorang lagi umat Muhammad bila-bila masa sahaja sekarang.

Saya ada 2 orang abang, seorang kakak, seorang adik lelaki, dan seorang adik perempuan.

Saya ada seorang nenek yang masih hidup. Yang beberapa tahun sudah saya tidak balik menjengah.

Saya tidak tahu ada beberapa tahun lagi baki masa saya hidup (mungkin beberapa hari atau beberapa jam). Tetapi saya telah merancang untuk hidup lama…

Saya tidak mahu membazirkan banyak masa lagi kerana saya telah pun membazirkan banyak masa.
